Our training ensures quality and knowledge

Since 1990, LACOS Computerservice GmbH has become a leading software provider in the German as well as the international agricultural engineering industry. We implement and produce GPS-based solutions such as automatic controls, industry-specific navigation systems and automatic GPS steering systems for combine harvesters and forage harvesters, etc. In addition, we develop and distribute PC-based and web-based logistics solutions for agricultural contractors who control and optimise the harvesting and transport of agricultural goods. In conjunction with our partners, we are working on research projects to make harvesting logistics energy-efficient and cost-effective.

 

 

In order to realise our company's goals in the future and to be able to expand further, we are constantly looking for dedicated specialists, as well as young professionals who would like to take up their training or studies with us.

 

 

There has been a branch office in Jena with 5 employees since 2015.

Training/studies


IT specialist for application development

  • Working in conjunction with the vocational school centre in Hermsdorf, we train young people year after year as "IT specialists for application development". As IT specialists, they design, develop, test and document software applications for customers, with a particular focus on applications for phones, tablets, PCs and other mobile devices. In addition, you will support and modify existing IT systems and be the direct contact for hardware sales and repair.
  • Duration of training
    • 3 years
  • After successful completion of this three-year training period in our company, you will have the opportunity to obtain your technical college entrance qualification in a further year at a vocational secondary school. This degree will allow you to begin a course of study with a focus on technology.
  • Beginning of the training
    • August to September. The exact date has not yet been determined.
  • Vocational school
    • State Vocational School Centre Hermsdorf, Rodauer Str. 45, 07629 Hermsdorf.
    • Vocational training is taught in blocks, alternating between theory and practice.
  • LACOS training stations
    • You will usually pass through all company departments during your training at LACOS. The main focus of the entire training, however, is on the development of software applications, so you will consequently be employed in the development department.

    • Secondary school diploma or secondary school leaving examination (anticipated in letter of application)
    • Good grades, especially in mathematics and physics

Bachelor's programme "Practical Computer Science"

  • In the "Practical Computer Science" degree course, you will become acquainted with the basics of computer science. IT systems, business fundamentals and especially the conception, realisation, testing and documentation of software applications are the cornerstones of the course. Our applications are developed especially for phones, tablets, PCs and other mobile devices. Practical areas of application for these products are navigation systems for agricultural engineering, automatic GPS guidance or web-based logistics solutions for contractors. You will be actively integrated into these projects during your studies so you can always put your acquired knowledge into practice.

"Business Informatics" bachelor's degree programme

  • On the "Business Informatics" degree course, you will acquire knowledge in the fields of computer science and business administration. Particular focus is placed on the interaction of these two subject areas. IT systems, computer systems and software development are the cornerstones of the course. In the business management modules, you will acquire knowledge of general business administration, logistics, accounting, human resources management or corporate management. In addition, modules on statistics, business mathematics or methods of scientific work complete the training programme. During your studies, you will be actively integrated into practice-oriented projects in the company so you will always be able to put your acquired knowledge into practice.

  • LACOS Computerservice has become a leading software provider in the German agricultural engineering industry since 1990. These solutions are in use in many places around the world.

Pupil internship

  • Making coffee? Sweeping the yard? Sitting around bored? – No! Interns are entrusted with meaningful tasks!
  • We offer you the opportunity to get acquainted with these important tasks as part of a pupil internship during your studies or apprenticeship. This can help you to develop your career aspirations or to encourage you in your intentions.
  • During the internship, you can also gain insight into the following areas:
    • Software development:
      • Using a software kit, you can create your own applications for your Android phone or tablet and then take them home with you.
      • Software testing/quality assurance: Together with our testers, you will get to know our solutions and annoy our developers with the errors you find.
      • Hardware and software service:
        Replacement of computer components, installation of software, etc.
  • Each intern is assigned a supervisor who supports and guides him/her in his tasks.
  • Internships usually last 1-2 weeks. They can also be arranged for the school holidays if there is no possibility during the school's internship periods.

Joint code reviews in our GIT source code management system ensure that only high quality code ends up in our applications and that you learn from our developers at the same time.

Development of a routing algorithm for in-field navigation

  • When it comes to the work of agricultural machinery on large fields, there is considerable potential for efficiency and simplification of work through automatic route calculation to specified positions in the field, e.g. the position of other machinery. Over the field there is a network of lanes used by the machinery as well as unprocessed areas that are to be regarded as restricted areas. The aim of the work is to transform the lanes into a graph and develop a routing algorithm. Optionally, the consideration of restricted areas can also be integrated.

Analysis of GPS lanes of agricultural machinery using artificial intelligence

  • Today's agricultural machinery uses GPS trackers to permanently generate different types of data that is made available to customers. These include position, speed and sensor data. However, it is difficult for the customer to automate the utilisation of this data and thus generate knowledge about his vehicles. The aim of this work is to use the data from GPS trackers to create a basis for economic evaluation according to working hours, idle times and transport times with the aid of artificial intelligence and machinery learning.

Development of a tool for DLL export optimisation

  • The reliable and reproducible build of software artefacts for different embedded target environments continues to be a challenge for software projects. In terms of continuous integration, you want to use a common code base for each target platform and optimise the resulting artefact for the respective target. The different design of the binary interfaces of the operating systems and the behaviour of the links sometimes complicates manual optimisation. The CMake tool abstracts compilers/links for the build and simplifies this task. Goal: CMake extension for DLL optimisation on memory limited platforms

Development of a visual ISOBUS analysis tool

  • Modern agricultural machinery as distributed embedded systems communicates via a CAN-based protocol stack (ISOBUS). First, a hierarchical description of the structure and the characteristics of the agricultural machinery are transferred. The process variables defined therein describe the chronological behaviour (e. g. working status, working widths). Through correlation with a GPS position, this model describes the behaviour of the machinery and can be used for diagnosis and simulation. Goal: Generation of a diagnosis or simulation of the bus communication – optional generation of component tests for reproducing errors in the field
